The University of Cambridge in the East of England

Greater Cambridge Partnership

The Greater Cambridge Partnership was negotiated between local stakeholders and central government in 2013, to provide unprecedented investment in infrastructure. In 2014 it was launched as the largest per-person City Deal in the United Kingdom. From investing in mass transit solutions to creating suburban cycle ways, this partnership will be crucial for sustaining high growth in Cambridge. The University of Cambridge is a non-voting statutory partner on this group, represented by Professor Phil Allmendinger.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority – Business Board

The revamped Local Enterprise Partnership, the Business Board sits within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and acts as the organisation’s main advisory body for business and public sector investment. It will help deliver flagship projects like the CAM Metro, the Local Industrial Strategy, University of Peterborough and A-road improvements. The University is represented by Professor Andy Neely, Pro Vice Chancellor for Enterprise and Business Relations.

Cambridge Ahead

Cambridge Ahead is a business and academic group, with members across the Greater Cambridge region. It represents both communities to government and local authorities, also acting as a research and commissioning body that captures the city’s economic performance and future investment needs. The University of Cambridge is a founding member.

The Oxford Cambridge Arc - The Arc Universities Group (AUG)

In 2017 the UK government endorsed the development of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. This will help to facilitate growth, connectivity and affordable homes in one of the fastest-growing regions in the UK. In recognition of the unique contribution that Universities make to this corridor, the University of Cambridge became a co-founder of the ARC Universities Group in 2018. This group is an alliance of 10 universities, large and small, who are collectively working to develop an economic vision for the corridor. Please email Aaron Cohen-Gold for a copy of AUG's initial prospectus.
