Professor Phil Allmendinger - Special Adviser and Representative to the Greater Cambridge Partnership

Professor Phil Allmendinger

Professor Phil Allmendinger is Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor on Regional Affairs. He is also Professor of Land Economy and Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Phil is the University’s representative on the Greater Cambridge Partnership Executive Board and liaises with a range of local and regional stakeholders including local authorities. He helps coordinate the collegiate University’s plans and vision around growth, transport, housing and environmental improvements.

Karen Kennedy - Director: Strategic Partnerships Office

Karen Kennedy

Karen is Director of the University of Cambridge’s Strategic Partnerships Office. The Office provides expertise and support to the University’s key partnerships and relationships, across disciplines and across the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining the University of Cambridge in 2018, she was Director of the National Cancer Research Institute and previously worked in strategic relations and programme management for research funders and scientific institutions, including Genome Canada and the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

Karen is a member of the Greater Cambridge Partnership Joint Assembly and represents the University on the Oxford Cambridge Arc Universities Operational Group.

Professor Andy Neely - Pro Vice Chancellor: Enterprise and Business Relations

Professor Andy Neely

Professor Andy Neely is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Business Relations. A former Head of the Institute for Manufacturing, Andy manages the University’s relationship with the private sector – especially in the fields of innovation, a key pillar of the Cambridge cluster. In addition to an international portfolio, Andy sits on the Business Board of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and acts as Chair of the University’s Regional Leaders Team.

Aaron Cohen-Gold - Public Affairs Manager (Regional)

Aaron Cohen-Gold

Aaron Cohen-Gold manages the University's political engagements across eastern England and with its representatives in Westminster. His work helps inform University policy and supports the integration of academics into regional policymaking. He represents the University on various local and regional boards, including the Greater Cambridge Partnership and Cambridge Ahead.

Jess Cunningham - Greater Cambridge Partnership Coordinator

Jess Cunningham

Jess Cunningham ensures that the University’s Estate Management department is informed about Greater Cambridge Partnership projects, often co-ordinating University’s responses to GCP consultations. She acts as a conduit for information between the GCP project teams and University Departments, to facilitate cooperation and joint working.

Dr Lucinda Spokes - Public Engagement and Festival Manager

Dr Lucy Spokes

Dr Lucinda Spokes is responsible for the coordination, delivery and evaluation of the annual University of Cambridge Science Festival which takes place in March each year. She works with researchers across the Schools of Physical Sciences, Technology, Biological Sciences and Clinical Medicine to plan their public engagement projects and involvement in the Cambridge Science Festival.
